Why is Tutoring Effective?

There are various reasons why parents choose tutoring for their children. While some parents feel their children are more prone to working through school struggles with another person apart from them. There are many parents who feel they are unable to help and support their children with school work.

Tutoring can help boost confidence, strengthen subject knowledge and build important learning skills.

Tutoring provides children with attention and clarification which they may not get in crowded classroom environment in school. It also stretches and challenges abler students as well as helps children who struggles to keep up in school. Many parents prefer tutoring also as it keeps children on track and engaged during school holidays such as half terms, Easter, Christmas and summer breaks.

Benefits of Tutoring

There are many reasons and benefits for tutoring however I will be listing the top 8 below:

1. One-on-one attention

As the name suggests, this involves one tutor working with one student, SIMPLE!

One-on-one sessions gives tutors opportunity to get to know students individual learning requirements and can adapt teaching techniques accordingly in the best interest of students. Tutors may spend some time talking to the parents before and after the session with regards to progress, homework and future lessons. You are guaranteed a personalised support for your child.

2. Improves attitude towards learning in school

With constant encouragement and praise, your child will no longer feel overwhelmed or frustrated in school and learning will become a lot more fun.

3. Improves academic performance

Students study with tutors in parallel to school curriculum, hence they will be more prepared for upcoming tests and exams, giving them the extra boost they may need to achieve their full potential.

4. Positive work space

Unlike school classroom environment, tutoring provides opportunity and environment free of distractions, as there is reduced distraction with fewer students. With these conditions students are better able to focus and stay on task for longer period of time to enhance their learning.

5. Encourages independence and responsibility

Students will understand and learn the ability to do school work on their own with minimal additional help and support. They will realise their own personal growth and gradually learn to take responsibilities for their own studies.

6. Improves self-esteem and confidence

It all comes down to practice and perfection. Tutoring will provide students with more resources, skills, hints and tips needed to excel in school curriculum. This will in turn build up on child’s confidence and self-esteem to be able to succeed and do better academically.

7. Encourages freedom to ask questions

Many students feel self-conscious when asking for help or questioning their teachers in school in front of their peers. This is where tutoring steps in and eliminates this fear or self-conscious feeling of speaking up and questioning, it can be a big question or something very small.

8. Helps overcome learning obstacles

Whether it’s a specific subject such as English, maths, history or an targeted skill such as reading, writing. Tutors can target the specific learning needs.
